Canadian Wood Council releases regionalized industry-average EPDs for five wood products

The Canadian Wood Council (CWC) commissioned the Athena Institute to conduct life cycle assessment (LCA) and develop environmental product declarations (EPDs) for five wood products: softwood lumber, oriented strand board (OSB), plywood, trusses, and prefabricated wood I-joists.

The EPDs, which represent regionalized industry average results for products made in Canada, were verified and registered with EPD program operator ASTM International.

This up-to-date LCA data has been incorporated into the Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings and our upcoming new web tool, Athena Buildings LCA.
