Athena Sustainable Materials Institute welcomes new Board Member, Brian Hall

The Athena Sustainable Materials Institute Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Hall as its newest member.

BrianHall Mr. Hall is currently the Managing Director, Sustainability and Business Development, with the Canadian Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute (CPCI). He brings a well-documented commitment to sustainability of the built environment to the nine-member Athena Board.

Mr. Hall is the originator of CPCI’s Sustainable Strategy, which includes the development of life cycle assessment (LCA) data for CPCI Precast Concrete, and design and implementation of a Sustainable Plant Program that enables member plants to measure and implement changes that improve both environmental and economic performance.

Prior to his work with CPCI, Mr. Hall held a number of senior management positions, including Senior Partner with Permax Management Consultants, Managing Director with Iota Management Consulting Inc., and Vice President/General Manager, Nashua Limited.

His governance experience includes his current role as Vice Chair of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Foundation (RAICF).

Mr. Hall is a Master’s graduate in Business Administration from Dalhousie University and holds an Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa. He has been an adjunct professor of Economics and Communication at University of Ottawa.

“With his skillset, his experience and his connections, Brian is a great asset to the Athena Board,” said Stephen Pope, the Chair of the Board. “He is a great fit for the organization as in his own work he is helping to further the Athena mission of advancing the application of life cycle thinking in the construction industry.”

Mr. Hall was pleased to accept his appointment to the Athena Board of Directors. “I’ve had the privilege of working with many of the Athena staff over the years and believe my abilities can be of benefit to the Athena Board,” he said. “I am looking for an opportunity to synergize my skills with the requirements of the Athena organization,” added.
