Athena Institute welcomes back Brandie Sebastian to the Board of Directors

The Athena Sustainable Materials Institute Chairman of the board Stephen Pope is pleased to announce the re-appointment of Brandie Sebastian, Senior Director of Sustainability, Energy, and Environment at the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). Sebastian takes the board seat of AISI colleague Mark Thimons. “We are grateful to Mark for his service on the board, and we look forward to Brandie’s participation,” says Pope.

Brandie Sebastian has sixteen years of professional sustainability experience in industry and consulting. In her multi-faceted role at AISI, she coordinates the American steel industry’s technical sustainability data and decarbonization activities. Her expertise pertains to the areas of LCA, PCR and EPD development, carbon footprinting, circularity and recycling, and sustainability standards development through ASTM and ISO. Sebastian served as the Vice Chair/Secretary of the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment Board of Directors from 2014-2022 and currently chairs the ACLCA Policy Committee. She is an LCA Certified Professional and holds a B.S. in Environmental Systems Engineering and an M.S. in Energy & Geo-Environmental Engineering from Penn State University.
